Fox Forest Wildlife Management Area provides 122 acres of rolling Appalachian hardwood forest just outside downtown Elkins along the Tygart Valley River. Four miles of trails offer quick escapes for trail running or interpretive nature walks overlooking the historic mountain town, while paddlers can launch at Scotts Ford for a float downstream. The accessible fishing pier and secluded pond create convenient spots for anglers seeking a peaceful afternoon without venturing deep into the Monongahela National Forest.

Directions
Located outside downtown Elkins, Fox Forest trails can be accessed via the Scotts Ford parking area on Scotts Ford Road. After parking, cross the roadway to the small trailhead at the base of the hill. Trailhead can additionally be accessed during the WVDNR offices’ operating hours on Ward Road.
