Lake Sherwood Recreation Area

Lake Sherwood is the largest lake in the Monongahela National Forest at 156 acres, offering a sandy beach, swimming area, and family-friendly camping surrounded by wooded mountains near White Sulphur Springs. The recreation area features dozens of developed campsites, picnic shelters, and a 3.5-mile hiking loop around the lake that connects to longer backcountry routes. Directions
From White Sulphur Springs, follow WV-92 north for 15.5 miles. Turn right onto Lake Sherwood Road and continue straight for 10.5 miles.
From Marlinton, follow WV-39 east for 13 miles, then turn right onto WV-92 south at Rimel. Continue for 16 miles, turning left onto Lake Sherwood Road, and continue straight for 10.5 miles.
