Safety
The NFMT travels through remote backcountry, and cell service may not be available. The trail features steep climbs, cliff edges, and little water. Please plan accordingly and always follow Leave No Trace principles.
Directions
From Petersburg, the northern trailhead and most popular access point, drive south on wv-28 for 6.5 miles, then turn left on Smoke Hole Rd. Additional area trailheads for Landis and Redman Run are located further south along Smoke Hole Road.
The southern trailhead is located atop the ridgeline along US-33, 9 miles west of Franklin. Limited parking is available.
