Gravel biking
in Durbin
From Durbin, riders can choose from relaxed rail-trail loops, scenic gravel climbs, or ambitious backcountry adventures. A beginner-friendly ride combines Forest Road 44 with the West Fork Rail Trail, tracing historic railroad corridors through forest and river valleys. Intermediate routes venture east toward Bartow and Smoke Camp Knob, linking steady gravel climbs with Civil War history and sweeping ridge views, or explore the high ridges and quiet roads around Glady, where more than 90% of the riding is on gravel.
For experienced riders, a dramatic loop from nearby Green Bank climbs toward the high plateau around Snowshoe Mountain, visiting Bald Knob and the spruce forests of Cheat Mountain before returning through Seneca State Forest.
