From Richwood, riders can explore a range of gravel loops that highlight the rivers, ridges, and forests surrounding the Cranberry Backcountry. Beginner-friendly options include a 100% gravel loop along the Cranberry River near Woodbine and Bishop Knob, where trout streams, shaded forest roads, and peaceful campgrounds define the ride.

Another signature loop begins at the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center, rolling down the river corridor before climbing gently back through quiet forest roads often closed to motor vehicles — an excellent first bikepacking trip. For riders seeking bigger climbs, the Beech Ridge Loop rises from Richwood to sweeping views beneath the turbines of the Beech Ridge Wind Farm before descending back to town.
